Many people have a misconception about microdermabrasion. The word “abrasion” itself makes the procedure sound harsh, rough – even painful – causing those who may benefit the most from this safe, gentle skincare therapy to avoid it the most.
At Ecobeautica Wellness Center, we take the time to educate our patients on the benefits of personalized microdermabrasion treatments. Our skilled estheticians have years of expertise in this highly specialized area, and know which types of skin conditions respond best to this non-surgical approach.
In fact, our Brooklyn Day Spa advocates a whole-body approach to health and wellness, which is reflected throughout the broad roster of spa services we offer. Because our skilled estheticians are trained to look at the root causes of patients’ individual skin concerns, they take a holistic look at dietary and lifestyle factors that may be manifested in the skin. Poor nutrition, high stress levels and hormonal imbalances can not only affect the way you feel inside, but can also negatively impact the luster, texture and appearance of your complexion. By conducting a personalized skin analysis, and taking a close look at these underlying causes, Ecobeautica’s estheticians provide personalized microdermabrasion treatments on a patient-by-patient basis.
So what exactly is this safe, non-surgical and non-invasive procedure? Ecobeautica offers two types: Hydroderm and Diamond microdermabrasion. In Hydroderm microdermabrasion, a trained technician uses a state-of-the-art machine that thoroughly buffs the skin using diamond flakes and then safely removes the superficial layer of dead skin cells using a gently vacuum suction.
Diamond microdermabrasion, as the name suggests, is the gem in the skincare regimen crown. While a similar hand-held wand is utilized, there are no crystals at the tip. Instead, the diamond tip itself exfoliates the skin, whisking away dead superficial skin cells with a vacuum and revealing the fresh, radiant and younger-looking layer of skin beneath.
Both types of microdermabrasion procedures reap the same benefits. These include:
- Softening wrinkles and fine lines
- Decreasing pore size
- Reducing hyperpigmentation (age spots)
- Smoothening coarsely textured skin
- Evening out skin tone
- Restoring luster to dull-looking skin
For those with acne, microdermabrasion removes the cellular debris that can clog follicles and cause infection, and can ultimately begin to reduce the appearance of acne scars. And all patients can benefit from the addition of oxygen infusion to this effective, easy cosmetic procedure. By infusing the skin with oxygen, it breathes much-needed air into fine lines, wrinkles and dull skin, resulting in a glowing, younger-looking and vibrant complexion.
Microdermabrasion, while most commonly employed on the face and neck, can also be effectively used on hands, knees, chest, back, shoulders and elbows. After all, these areas of the body can also benefit from gentle polishing to reveal the healthier skin below.
But we’re really just scratching the surface here. At our upcoming free educational seminar, you’ll learn much more about microdermabrasion, and how our highly skilled estheticians will perform a detailed skin analysis and holistic diet/lifestyle review to customize the skin care approach that’s just right for you.
